Stop the Sewage Dumping

Anna and the Lib Dems plan to protect our environment

South Buckinghamshire is blessed with a number of beautiful waterways including important chalk streams like the River Wye and Misbourne, as well as the majestic Thames.

When our Conservative MP voted to allow water companies to keep dumping sewage in them for 15 more years, like many in our community, Anna was horrified. Anna is passionate about protecting our local environment. The River Thames is one of her favourite places to walk and spend time with her family.

A Fairer Deal for the environment

• Transform water companies into public benefit companies.

• Ban bonuses for water bosses until discharges and leaks end.

• Replace Ofwat with a tough new regulator with new powers to prevent sewage dumps.

• Provide more funding to the Environment Agency and Natural England.

• Double the size of the UK protected nature sites.

Protect our rivers from Sewage

Anna and the Lib Dems are calling on water companies to clean up their own mess and stop dumping sewage in our river and lakes. Water companies pumped sewage into our rivers and seas more than 1 million times over the past three years. The Conservatives are letting them get away with it AND want taxpayers to pay to fix the problem. It's time for a sewage tax on the £2.2 billion water company annual profits to improve our sewage systems and protect our rivers and lakes
