Every child can achieve great things. They deserve the best possible start in life and the opportunity to flourish, no matter their background.
A Fairer Deal for Education
The Liberal Democrats’ plan includes:
- Increase school and college funding per pupil above the rate of inflation - to give support where it is needed most.
- Ending the scandal of crumbling schools by clearing the repair backlog and investing in new buildings.
- Extending free school meals to all children in primary education and all secondary school children whose families receive Universal Credit.
- Put a dedicated, qualified mental health professional in every school, making sure all children and parents have someone they can turn to for help.
Education is the best investment we can make in our children's and our country's future. As a former school governor, I have seen the positive impact that schools have on our children. I have also seen the real difficulties that schools face when trying to provide the education and opportunities young people deserve. We must invest more in our schools to allow our children to realise their full potential.
